Discover the Best Elopement Destinations in the Northeast: A Guide by an Adventurous Photographer

Anyone who knows me knows that my free time almost exclusively involves getting out into nature, hiking, cycling, or gravel riding with my husband. I’m in constant awe (and need!) of the breathtaking landscapes Mother Earth has given us.
I’ve lived in Connecticut my whole life, but staying home isn’t really my thing–I have a craving for discovering new places and seeing the beauty in the world. What can I say? I’m a wanderer!
Being an ever-explorer means I’m always stumbling across new places. And being an elopement photographer means that when I do, I get so electrified — I can’t wait to share them with my couples. Today, you get to reap the benefits of all those miles on the road and trail. I know allll of the best places to elope in the Northeast, and I’m so excited to share them with you!
Let’s dive into my top eight favorite 2026 elopement destinations in the Northeast — places that will make you fall in love with this corner of the world all over again.
1. Rhode Island Coastline

The coastline of Rhode Island has some of the best places to elope for a small beach town vibe. Experience the dreamy allure of lighthouses and romantic beaches in places like Beavertail! This coastal haven, with its rocky shores and antique lighthouses, sets the perfect stage for a New England elopement. Explore the magic of Rhode Island’s ocean views.
Or check out the romantic Block Island: with a total of 17 miles of beaches, this island is anything but ordinary! If you’re into the rich-colored clay cliffs overlooking the East Coast ocean, this is where you need to elope! Block Island has some of the most interesting (and oldest!) lighthouses I’ve ever seen — the Island totally has the “IT” factor when it comes to elopement photography. Check out this adventurous and modern elopement on Block Island!

2. Harkness, Waterford, Connecticut

Nestled in the coastal town of Waterford, Connecticut, Harkness Memorial State Park stands as a picturesque elopement destination. This hidden gem captivates with its sprawling gardens, majestic mansion, and panoramic views of Long Island Sound. As an elopement photographer, the allure of Harkness lies in its diverse landscapes, ranging from vibrant flower beds to serene shorelines. Exchange vows during the week amidst the timeless beauty of Harkness, creating memories that resonate with the park’s rich history and scenic grandeur.
Here you’ll find my personal favorite elopement venue in Connecticut: Eolia Mansion! With views of Long Island Sound, beautiful gardens, a spectacular view of the sunset from the beach, and historical charm! It’s the perfect venue for an intimate wedding or elopement in New England!

3. Northwest Corner, Connecticut
My favoriteee part of my home state – the Northwest corner!! Connecticut’s rolling hills, rivers, and waterfalls make it one of the most naturally diverse places to elope in the Northeast. This region includes gems like Lakeville, Barkhamsted, Kent, Litchfield, Cornwall, Sharon, and Washington.

When I think of Lakeville, Connecticut, I’m reminded of the incredible waterfalls. You know that summer cabin where your family used to drag you to every summer? Where you felt like the days were never-ending and you could live freely without a care in the world? You’d wake up and run outside to feel the wet grass from the morning dew and just feel a sense of PEACE?
Yeah. This is that place. Except that instead of a tire swing being your main source of excitement, you’ll be getting married! And then, if you’re into all things nature, you HAVE to elope in Barkhamsted. This place is like a scene straight out of a fairytale… and that’s no exaggeration!

From the beautiful mountain tops all the way down to the rivers, everywhere you turn is stunningly beautiful. I highly recommend visiting Barkhamsted in the Fall, when nature is at its most beautiful and serene state.

4. The Berkshires, Massachusetts

Indulge in the enchanting beauty of eloping in the Berkshires, where the Berkshire Mountains unfold as an Autumn dream, reminiscent of a scene from a Hallmark movie. With miles of stunning foliage and the crisp, invigorating air, the Berkshires during fall create a picture-perfect setting that is as close to perfection as you can imagine. The best places to exchange vows around the Berkshires include breathtaking locations like Bash Bish Falls, Campbell Falls, Mount Greylock, and The Mount, along with numerous hidden gems waiting to be discovered. As your guide to eloping in New York, I have tonssss of elopement resources to ensure your Berkshires elopement is not only picture-perfect but also so easy and fun, allowing you to focus on the romance and beauty of your special day.

5. Acadia National Park, Maine

I know I’ve complimented the natural beauty of every place on this list so far, but everything about the gorgeous Northeast screams “one with nature,” and Acadia is no different. Probably THE best place to elope in New England in my opinion! You can find me out there shooting and exploring throughout the year!
Acadia National Park is often referred to as the crown jewel of the North Atlantic East Coast. And it’s among the top 10 most-visited national parks in the country! The park is renowned for its natural beauty throughout every season. No matter what time of year you carve out your trip to Acadia, you can’t go wrong!

Whether you’ve almost crossed off all of the NH48 or you’ve only climbed up the easiest trail of Monadnock, New Hampshire has something for every adventurer. Hands down, one of the best places to elope in New Hampshire.
Pinkham Notch, Crawford Notch, and Franconia Notch, located nearby, are also amazing spots to say ‘I do’!
