Two-Day Adventure: A Memorable Elopement Experience
Eric an Asli’s elopement was a two-day adventure filled with unforgettable moments. On the first day, they hiked up to Tre Cime in the afternoon for a sunset ceremony. The view was nothing short of spectacular, providing the perfect backdrop for their vows.

Their first look and vow exchange were incredibly moving, surrounded by the serene beauty of the Dolomites. And then we also ventured to Seceda for a fun couple session. They relaxed at Sofia Baite with Scottish Highland cows, enjoying fresh pasta and local beer, which made for a delightful and relaxed end to their adventure. Reaching Tre Cime di Lavaredo is an adventure in itself, with various options depending on your starting point and preferred mode of travel. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate your way to these iconic peaks in the Dolomites:
How to Get to Tre Cime di Lavaredo
- Starting Point: Cortina d’Ampezzo or Dobbiaco
- If you’re traveling by car, Cortina d’Ampezzo or Dobbiaco (Toblach) are the closest major towns to Tre Cime di Lavaredo. From either town, you’ll head towards the small village of Misurina (the gateway to Tre Cime)
- Driving to Rifugio Auronzo
- From Misurina, follow the signs for Rifugio Auronzo. This is the starting point for most hikes to Tre Cime. The road is well-maintained but has a toll (approximately €30-35 per car) to access the private toll road leading up to the refuge.
- The drive takes you up a winding mountain road with stunning views. It’s about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) from Misurina to Rifugio Auronzo and takes around 20 minutes.
- Parking and Preparing for the Hike
- Once you arrive at Rifugio Auronzo (elevation 2,320 meters or 7,610 feet), there is a large parking lot where you can leave your car. This is the starting point for several hiking trails, including the popular loop around Tre Cime.
- Before starting your hike, you can enjoy a meal or coffee at the refuge, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
- Hiking to Tre Cime di Lavaredo
- The classic route is the Tre Cime Circuit, a relatively easy and well-marked trail that loops around the peaks. The hike takes about 3-4 hours, depending on your pace and how often you stop to take photos.
- The trail offers stunning panoramic views of the Dolomites and takes you close to the base of the three peaks, providing different perspectives of these iconic mountains.
- Alternate Access by Bus or Shuttle
- If you’re not driving, there are bus and shuttle services available from Cortina d’Ampezzo or Dobbiaco to Rifugio Auronzo during the summer months. This is a convenient option if you prefer not to navigate the mountain roads yourself.
