Acadia is stunning—no question. But it’s also crowded, especially in the places you’ve probably already seen all over Instagram.

Over 4 million people visited in 2025, and most of them are going to the same handful of spots, at the same time of day.

That’s not where I take my couples.

I’m always looking for places that feel quieter, more expansive… where you can actually hear the ocean, feel the wind, and have a moment that’s yours.

That’s why I guide most of my couples toward sunrise. Not because it’s trendy—but because it’s the one time of day Acadia softens. The light is better, the air feels different, and you’re not sharing your vows with a crowd of hikers.

We might start along the cliffs as the first light comes in, then wander to another spot, take it slow, maybe build in something simple like a coffee picnic or an easy walk along the water.

The rest of the day opens up from there. You don’t need to overpack it. You just need space to actually be in it.

Located near Bar Harbor, Maine, Acadia gets called the Jewel of the East Coast—and honestly, it earns that.

I might be a little biased (Maine feels like a second home to me), but every time I’m here, I’m reminded how much variety is packed into one place. You can start your day by the ocean, be up on a mountaintop not long after, and still make it back into Bar Harbor for a slow dinner by sunset.

This spot looks incredible, but I only use it at certain times…If you’re dreaming of waves crashing against rugged cliffs, salty ocean air, and wide-open skies, Otter Point is your spot. Unlike some of Acadia’s steeper cliffside locations, Otter Point offers spacious, flat rock areas—ideal for an intimate ceremony with family and friends. It’s a front-row seat to Maine’s wild beauty, where you can say your vows with nothing but the vast Atlantic stretching out before you.

Nestled between two glacier-carved mountains, Jordan Pond is a tranquil, romantic setting for a small ceremony. Picture soft ripples on the water, lush greenery, and the famous Bubble Mountains reflected perfectly in the lake as you exchange vows.

Plan a post-ceremony picnic! The nearby Jordan Pond House serves fresh Maine popovers & tea.

Little Hunter’s Beach – A Secluded Forest + Ocean Combo

This is one of my favorite places when couples want privacy without a long hike…Little Hunter’s Beach is one of Acadia’s best-kept secrets—a peaceful cove with a pebbled shoreline, towering evergreens, and the sound of waves gently rolling in. It’s perfect for couples wanting an intimate, fairy-tale elopement surrounded by nature.

This area is good for large groups, if you have more than 10 people coming to your elopement, it’s very accessible. Seawall Picnic Area offers a quiet, off-the-beaten-path coastline where you can say your vows right by the ocean—then pop a bottle of champagne, enjoy a picnic, and watch the sun dip below the horizon.

🌟 Pro tip:Perfect for a post-ceremony celebration with close family or just the two of you.

Leave No Trace (LNT): Stick to designated areas to preserve the delicate ecosystem.

How to Prepare for your Acadia Elopement

Maine’s weather can be wildly unpredictable—from foggy mountaintops to sudden ocean breezes. The key? Layers & preparation!

What to Pack:

✔️ Gloves, hats & rain gear – Coastal weather shifts fast!

How to Elope in Acadia (Step by Step Guide)

1️⃣ Check the Acadia National Park Website
Always review the official NPS website for permits, closures, and access updates. With 4.5 million visitors expected in 2025, plan ahead—especially if you want to access Cadillac Mountain, which requires a Summit Road Reservation + park pass.

2️⃣ Get Your Permit
📍 If you have more than 10 guests, a $50 Special Use Permit is required.
🔥 I’ll walk you through the process and provide a Leave No Trace (LNT) guide so we can protect this beautiful park.

3️⃣ Marriage License
📜 Maine Residents: Apply in your town/city; valid statewide for 90 days.
📜 Out-of-State Couples: Apply in any Maine town; valid for 90 days.
💡 Plan ahead! Town Halls are closed on weekends, so arrive 1–2 days early to get your license.

4️⃣ Choose an Officiant
💍 My husband, George, is an officiant and often assists me at elopements during the summer and school breaks.
💍We are also ordained and can sign your marriage license!
💍 Want a loved one to officiate? Universal Life Church makes it easy to get ordained online.

5️⃣ Park Pass & Entry Fees
🎟 May–October: Acadia requires a Park Pass ($30 for 7 days or $80 for an annual pass).
